Chaingateway July 2023 Update: RPC API Beta

The Chaingateway July 2023 update was a product announcement covering five items: an RPC API beta, rewards for public reviews, payment of subscriptions through ForumPay, a referral program, and new webhook source IP addresses. What did the July 2023 update announce?

The update listed five items:

1. An RPC API beta for all supported blockchains. The announcement said that some functions were removed for security reasons and that the matching API calls are listed in the documentation.
2. Rewards for reviews on Product Hunt and Trustpilot, offered at that time to free and paid users.
3. A partnership with ForumPay, which let customers pay for a Chaingateway subscription with several cryptocurrencies.
4. A referral program that paid out a share of the plan fees of referred customers, with a dashboard for tracking referrals.
5. A change of the IP addresses from which webhooks are sent, with a request to update IP whitelists.

Why is the webhook IP list not repeated?

Whitelisting a stale IP address either breaks your webhook delivery or opens your firewall to an address that no longer belongs to us. We can confirm the addresses published in 2023 only as of that date, so we removed them from this page. If you filter incoming webhooks by source IP, ask support for the current list.

IP filtering alone is also a weak check. Verify the X-Signature header on every webhook as described in the webhook security guide. The signature is an HMAC, as defined in RFC 2104, and the check keeps working when a source address changes.
